A professor's lifelong friendship led to a new first-semester seminar course where students from ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ engaged with students in a leadership seminar at Norfolk State University.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s study abroad program has ranked first in the annual Institute for International Education Open Doors Survey of semester-long travel at undergraduate institutions.

This academic year marks the 10th anniversary of Ciccone Commons, the first Residential Commons established at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ. Since its launch in 2015, the program has grown to four communities that gather students with similar interests and passions to extend learning beyond the classroom.

The conference will feature ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ professors Peter Balakian and Kyle Bass as workshop instructors, alongside other distinguished visiting faculty from Hamilton College, Cornell University, Ithaca College, and more.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies Emerita Ellen Percy Kraly was honored by the Center for Migration Studies at its 2025 Academic and Policy Symposium in New York City.

Activist Fredrika Newton, president and co-founder of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation, will deliver ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s 2026 MLK Celebration Keynote Address. The celebration’s opening ceremony and keynote address set the tone for a week of learning, dialogue, and collective action grounded in community, empathy and justice.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ faculty, staff, and alumni regularly provide their expertise and contribute to national and regional media outlets shaping discussions about vital research and current events.

Mr. Robert Hung Ngai Ho ’56, H’11, C.M., O.B.C., passed away peacefully in Vancouver, Canada, on Nov. 30, 2025, at the age of 93.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s commitment to green building practices earned a gold LEED certification for Bernstein Hall, the new home for the Arts, Creativity, and Innovation Initiative.
