Alumni, parents, and friends streamed into the Village of Hamilton by the thousands on Friday, Sept. 21, joining the campus community for ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s three-day Bicentennial Kickoff Celebration. They were greeted by banners hailing ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ at 200 Years and a calendar packed with special events.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ has named Paul B. Mischler, currently deputy chief advancement officer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Medicine, as vice president for advancement at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ. He will take up his new post on November 5.

Tara Bubble, deputy director of undergraduate admissions at Cornell University, has been named dean of admission at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ. She will take up her new post on October 15.

Looking back on another successful fiscal year, the campus community is honoring the generosity of alumni, parents, and friends. Overall giving to ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ rose nearly 10 percent to $35.1 million between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018.

On September 22 at 8 p.m., the legendary ensemble Earth, Wind & Fire will appear in Sanford Field House for a concert honoring ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ at 200 Years.

What if you could go big and go home? That would be a ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ reunion. Last weekend, more than 2,600 alumni and friends returned to ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ for Reunion 2018.

Today, members of the Class of 2018 received the degrees that they worked so hard to attain. Honored guests and familiar friends, rising to congratulate them, made clear that these graduates are taking their liberal arts education into a world of change.

Courtney L. Young, head librarian and professor of women’s studies at Penn State University–Allegheny, has been named university librarian at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ and will take up her duties on July 1.

Professors Chris Vecsey and Lourdes Rojas-Paiewonsky will share the 2018 Jerome Balmuth Award for Teaching and Student Engagement.
