Hamilton, NY — Hailed as ‘a national treasure’ by The Boston Globe, the Manhattan String Quartet will be in residence at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ February 14 through 16, to participate in the university’s Challenge of Modernity class, part of ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ’s core curriculum, and perform twice in Memorial Chapel. On Thursday, February 15 at 5:00 p.m., the Manhattan String Quartet will give a lecture/recital on Debussy’s Quartet in G minor for Strings, Op. 10. On Friday, February 16, at 8:00 p.m. the quartet will give a full concert. On the program are the Shostakovich String Quartet No. 10 in B flat, Op. 118 and the Beethoven String Quartet No. 13, Op. 130. A reception will follow Friday’s concert.
The Manhattan String Quartet is in its third decade as an established ensemble of premier rank. Since 1986 the group has served as quartet-in-residence at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ.
